The 33rd Annual Corporate Spelling Bee!

On August 6, 2024 PAVE East Texas, previously Literacy Council of Tyler, held its 33rd Annual Corporate Spelling Bee at Green Acres Crosswalk Center. Eleven teams from local businesses competed in our fun-filled, energetic spelling competition. This year’s theme was Video Games, and we were so excited to see everyone “level up” their bee spirit!

This year, the Costume Award was presented to Altra Federal Credit Union for their “Pokemon” inspired attire! First Presbyterian Church took home the Spirit Stick by rocking the house with their contagious spirit!

In the last round, Henry & Peters and Trane Technologies battled it out, spelling rapid fire words back to back. After an intense 30 minutes and with the word “apocryphal,” Trane Technologies took home the coveted Spelling Bee trophy!

The Spelling Bee is our signature fundraising event and kicks off our annual fund campaign. We are delighted to announce that over $80,000 was raised to support our various programs! This will ensure our adult students will continue to earn GEDs, learn or improve their English, and will lead their families into brighter futures.
